Today, Sunday, 30,000 vaccinations would be carried out, and on Monday 34,535 doses would be delivered for vaccination. Health Minister Rudolf Anschober said.

As is well known, the start of vaccination – from December 27 to January 5, less than 6,000 people were vaccinated – was anything but successful. Since this week, however, the pace has finally been set.

In addition, there were already orders for the delivery of 106,680 doses to retirement and nursing homes from Monday.

A total of 106,680 doses had already been called up by the nine federal states by the end of the week.

With these vaccines, all nursing homes and Covid wards are now to be immunized. After three weeks, they must receive the second vaccination.
In parallel, some provinces, such as Vienna, Lower Austria and Vorarlberg, also vaccinate hospitals as a whole, as well as emergency services.
Chancellor Sebastian Kurz promised this week that people over 80 who live at home will now also be vaccinated. Something that Carinthia, for example, will start doing next week.
Until March: 900,000 doses from Pfizer, 200,000 from Moderna
A total of 900,000 vaccine doses from Pfizer and 200,000 from Moderna will be delivered by March. The fact that Pfizer can now vaccinate six doses instead of the previous five means that up to 20 percent more can be vaccinated with them.

Astrazeneca could still receive approval by the end of January – reportedly with a recommendation for people under 65.

Vaccinations for the masses by the end of summer
In February, the “critical infrastructure,” such as teachers, will be vaccinated.

Significantly larger quantities are to be delivered starting in April. Through the EU purchase, Austria is entitled to 11.5 million Pfizer doses, 3.5 million from Moderna and 6 million from Astrazeneca.
